For over fifty years, FIAM has explored glass as a living material, transforming it from a simple transparent surface into a true protagonist of interior design. Our mastery lies in the ability to push beyond the limits of this ancient material, discovering in every sheet an infinite universe of expressive possibilities.
In 2018, this ongoing research reached an extraordinary milestone with the creation of DV-GLASS®, the vision of Daniele and Vittorio Livi. An innovation that redefines the very concept of glass furniture, achieving thicknesses never before seen in the world of interior design.
DV-GLASS® was born from the desire to reinvent a multifaceted material, optimising every stage of the production process and fully embracing the principles of the circular economy.
It is not simply about working with glass, but rethinking it at its core, creating a material that fuses craftsmanship with contemporary vision, timeless beauty with environmental responsibility.
The DV-GLASS® technique is a highly refined process: the sheet is cut into thin strips—mainly transparent, smoked, and bronze glass. With experience, we arrange these strips side by side, generating ever-changing chromatic combinations and reintegrating over 90% of production offcuts back into the process.
The result is a new glass sheet distinguished by exceptional thicknesses—up to 30 mm—and a wide range of dimensional and chromatic variations. The inherent variability of the fusion and assembly phases ensures that each sheet is a unique, unrepeatable piece, where the original components remain visible and tangible.
Traditionally perceived as cold and immaterial, glass becomes warm, tactile and vibrant with DV-GLASS®—a material capable of giving character and originality to any space.
Glass is the very symbol of eco-sustainability. It is composed mainly of sand and limestone, is aseptic, non-toxic, and does not release any harmful substances. Glass is eternal and can be endlessly recycled without loss.
FIAM Italia continuously researches this material, expanding its horizons and potential applications. DV-GLASS® was born from this commitment: a technology capable of optimising every phase of the production chain—from sourcing to final use—fully embracing the concepts of circular economy and environmental sustainability.
This innovative patented process uses glass sections, including recovered remnants, which are fused into a new sheet—giving the material a second, third, fourth, and infinite new lives, while preserving the visible presence of its original components.
DV-GLASS® furniture transforms living spaces into scenarios of rare elegance. Their volumetric presence—born from generous thicknesses and tactile materiality—creates a sophisticated dialogue with interior architecture. Every piece becomes a functional sculpture capable of adding colour and depth to its surroundings.
Choosing DV-GLASS® is also a gesture of responsibility: an ecological material that respects the environment without compromising aesthetic value. Its solid volume and stratified transparency create plays of light and depth, turning each furnishing element into a true focal point.
