Angelo Cortesi designs the curved glass table, Ponte, for FIAM. This is the start of a series of partnerships between the company and prestigious designers of international acclaim.
The first page advertising FIAM products is published in the Italian “Abitare” magazine.

: “Ghost” is the first curved glass armchair. The armchair created by the designer, Cini Boeri, wins first prize in the “Readers’ referendum” competition in the magazine, “Interni”, and the “Forum Design Award” at Cosmit Milan.
The first edition of “Cristallo Forme Cultura” (Glass Shapes Culture) magazine is produced and published by FIAM. In the same year, Vittorio Livi is made an honorary citizen of New York by the mayor, Edward Koch.
Massimo Morozzi designs the “Hydra” coffee table. Only a water jet is used to create this work.

The partnerships between FIAM and prestigious designers continue and lead to the creation of the “Papiro” and “Montefeltro” tables; the former designed by Giugiaro Design and the latter by Enzo Mari.
Vittorio Livi purchases Villa Miralfiore to create “Spazio Miralfiore”, the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to curved glass.
Walter Valentini creates his work in glass, “Le Misure, il Cielo” in FIAM’s Artistic Research laboratory. The new range Livi’t by FIAM is launched in the same year.
FIAM reinforces its relationship with key exponents of international design resulting in the “Clear” collection by Ron Arad and the “Vulcano” coffee table designed by Vico Magistretti. The encounter between FIAM and Philippe Starck results in “Caadre”, the first product in which curved glass is combined with a mirror.
Caadre, Ghost and Atlas are selected to be displayed in international museums. The Caadre mirror, in particular, is exhibited at the “Fonds National d’Art Contemporain” in Paris, Ghost is exhibited at the “Musèe des Arts Decoratifs” in Montreal, and the Atlas table and Ghost are both exhibited at the “Musèe des Arts Decoratifs” in Paris.
The Ghost armchair is chosen to be part of a series of stamps by the Italian Postal Service dedicated to Made in Italy designs.
In the same year that the “Neutra” coffee table is created by Rodolfo Dordoni, Vittorio Livi is awarded the Compasso D’Oro” industrial design award to his career.

Ghost, Illusion and Tango are exhibited at The Corning Museum of Glass in New York while the sculpture, “Tavole della Legge” (Glass Bible), by Emilio Isgrò is displayed in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.
The Ghost armchair is chosen to be put on display at the “Le fabbriche dei sogni” (Factory of Dreams) at the Triennale art and design museum in Milan.
The partnership between FIAM and the designers, Dante Benini and Luca Gonzo, leads to one of the company’s greatest successes: the LLT Collection. In the same year, the Macramè coffee tables designed by LucidiPevere win 1st prize at the 25th edition of the Young & Design Award competition.
Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas design the “Rosy” and “Lucy” mirrors for FIAM. In the same year, “The Wing”, a mirror conceived by Daniel Libeskind, is also created.
Vittorio Livi creates the sculpture “Gesù Energia del Mondo” (Jesus, the Energy of Life) presented to Pope Francis. In the same year, FIAM is selected to represent the Brands of the World at Expo 2015.

The Ghost armchair marks its thirtieth anniversary and to celebrate, FIAM involved all its designers in an artistic project and produced a brochure recounting the product’s history and acclaim. The entire “Ghost 30 Anniversary” project is presented at the “Salone del Mobile” trade fair in Milan, where Ghost was unveiled for the very first time in 1987.
In 1998, Fiam Italia and visionary creator Philippe Starck presented Caadre, a unique mirror which makes of its function its beauty, a mix of aesthetic sensibility, craftsmanship and timeless design. We celebrate the 20th anniversary of the timeless charm of CAADRE by introducing a new bronze model and the backlit version.
Vittorio Livi has always had one passion: glass.
Fullet, the very first company founded by him, produced coloured glass for the furniture industry and was followed by a succession of companies: Artiglass, Curvovetro, Cromoglass and Vellutart.
The merger between these companies in 1973 resulted in FIAM, the first company to produce furnishing items in curved glass. Thanks to its technology and partnerships with top international designers, FIAM has become a leader in this industry and some of its products are on display in twenty-five museums worldwide.
After overseeing the restoration of Montegridolfo, a walled town dating back to the 7th century B.C., in 1992 Vittorio Livi purchased and renovated Villa Miralfiore, a historic building in Pesaro constructed in 1260. A part of the villa is dedicated to “Spazio Miralfiore”, a museum for works of art in glass produced by Livi and numerous Italian and international artists.
“Ipotenusa”, “Cammini delle Fate”, the Crucifix of Pesaro, “Gesto”, and “Cuore” are some of the glass sculptures created by Vittorio Livi and exhibited at “Spazio Miralfiore” and in international museums.
The Onda pouf is the first item produced by FIAM, designed by its founder, Vittorio Livi. This was followed by a host of other products in the years to come: the Ragno table, the Grillo bedside table, the Gioco coffee tables, the Marea table, and the Palladio and Galà showcases …
Vittorio Livi has been presented with numerous awards and prizes over his career, including being appointed Commander of the Italian Republic, receiving an honorary degree from the University of Ancona, the “Compasso D’Oro” for his career from ADI (Italian Industrial Design Assocation), the ARTOUR-O d’Argento award for his significant contribution to art and the Leonardo Qualità Italia 2015 award from the Comitato Leonardo (Italian Quality Committee) …
In addition to being CEO of FIAM, Vittorio Livi also holds numerous other posts. These include: member of the Board of Directors of Fla Eventi which organises the Salone del Mobile in Milan, MD of “Gruppo Mobili” Assarredo, member of the Comitato Leonardo in Rome and partner of the UCID (Christian Union of Business Executives).
Established in 1954 by Gio Ponti for “la Rinascente” the Compasso d’oro award from 1964 is managed by ADI that nowadays represents the highest expression of the European design. In the three-yearly editions are assigned twenty Compasso d’oro award, and the committee shall assign a Compasso d’Oro Career Award to a maximum of nine personalities, in order to the high expression of quality and design.
Fiam Italia has been awarded in 2001 with Ferrari Auto and Abet Laminati, and has been the 14th company to be awarded. Passion, design, research together with the culture of glass are the founding values of the company now and in the future.
The Leonardo Committee, which has been recognizing and awarding the talent of men and companies to give relevance to the many extraordinary excellences of the Made in Italy for more than twenty years, has awarded Fiam with the Premio Leonardo Qualità Italia as a company that has distinguished itself for innovation and quality of products combined with a strong international outlook, for both commerce and production.

The conformity to this reference norm allows Fiam to reach the highest quality standards. One of the direct evidences is the possibility to keep track of the products: a high temperature and therefore indelible decal is applied to every article, in addition to the company logo, this decal also bears a number of codes that allow the production cycle details of the article to be traced.
