Nicola De Ponti

Nicola de Ponti, partner of the AstoriDePontiAssociati Studio, is a renowned designer who has conceived for FIAM Butterfly coffee table in curved glass.

De Ponti was Born in Milan in 1971. After his degree in Architecture at the Politecnico University in Milan he got trained at a international level. He worked in Italy with Flavio Albanese and in Spain with Tusquets , Diaz y Asociados, managing wide range architectural interventions such as the renovation of the industrial Faema area in Milan or the Auditorium de Las Palmas de Gran Canarias in Spain.

After his entry in the AstoriDePontiAssociati, he has led the business to new and strong partnerships. Antonia Astori’s 30-year experience, combined with the freshness of Nicola De Ponti’s approach, are the linchpin of a broader, more composite professionalism that leads to renewal and openness towards the new generations.

As partner of the AstoriDePontiAssociati studio, Nicola De Ponti designs houses, shops, exposition stands. His many successful projects have also led him to some reports in the ADI Design Index.

He has worked and he is still working in partnership with Driade, Tubes, Oluce, Laminam and Fiam, not only as industrial and project designer but also as art director for some companies in the furniture sector, such as Mussi Italy and Valsecchi 1918. Attracted by the debate on city planning and living, he has taught at the Politecnico University of Milan and in the Domus Academy and has worked with the Italian magazine OFARCH (Design Diffusion World) as architecture reviewer.

A career filled with awards

The unique design of some of his products allowed him to receive many reports in the ADI Design Index. In particular:

  • in 2008 for the radiator Milano designed for Tubes,
  • in 2010 for the Plateau lamp designed for Oluce,
  • in 2012 for two products, the Edipo bookcase for Driade and the Twin box bookcase for Valsecchi 1918.

In addition to this, his experimental project of sustainable architecture “ Green Farm house” during the event “per abitare il tempo 2010”, after being selected by the ADI Design Index 2011, has been included in 2012 by the Lombardia region in the selection of projects for the “under 40 Review of Lambard architecture” award.
