FIAM ITALIA: CONTEMPORARY LIVING BETWEEN TEXTURAL SUGGESTIONS AND AVANT-GARDE

Fiam Italia is synonymous with passion, research and modern aesthetics and continues to explore glass, conceiving its depth and infinite meanings. In an innovative context marked by continuous evolutions, it is no longer just about glass, but rather textural fusions where diversities are emphasized and become noteworthy ‘distinguishing marks’ that can get rid of labels and enter into communion with other essences. Hence, the Marche-based firm no longer produces just charming pieces of furniture, but subjects that are set to inhabit an interior landscape, designing spaces that are compatible with an idea of a contemporary, cozy home. Single elements come together and furniture proves to be the care of space. Atmospheres are condensed in different ways, with strong and decisive shades or soft and whispered tones that result into three styles: Pure, Modern, Sophisticated. The common thread of the collection presented at the Salone del Mobile 2022 is represented by the atmospheres of the MOOD project by Fiam Italia, with the collaboration of Adele Martelli, the brand’s art director. An offer that gives evidence of FIAM’s great inclination to research and innovation, aimed to complete the living and dining area with new proposals such as sofas, lamps and chairs, and great classics, including tables and mirrors. The dining area is characterized by magnificent tables that enlighten the ambience with valuable processing and high-quality materials. Among these is the Cristaline dining table by Marcel Wanders studio, synonymous with grace and eternal beauty as proof of Fiam Italia’s craftsmanship in glass fusion techniques. Inspired to the enchantment of a floral bouquet, the poetic texture of the relevant glass top is a perfect synthesis of geometry and nature with eternal engravings of ethereal, incorporeal and textural buds. A glass surface that becomes home to an organic harmony that welcomes and exalts nature.

Creativity then moves its focus from the top to the base, the real protagonist of the Agos dining table by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba characterized by a refined and at the same time reassuring design. A true architectural scheme that connects the feet of the structure, creating a system of lines that intersect to establishing an intriguing play of perspectives. Made of metal, the relevant structure is connected by crosspieces that support the polymorphous tops made of transparent or fused glass, whose sober and delicate texture confer an unexpected elegance to the table. Conceived by Studio Klass especially for the dining room, but also perfectly for other types of interior spaces, Newton is a cozy and sinuous chair that offers moments of daily relax. The soft curves of its backrest are harmoniously resolved in its armrests, a real functional support, while its solid wooden structure of its legs enriches and accompanies the upholstery. The distinctive feature of this light and elegant seat lies in the joints connecting the backrest to the seat, which represent an innovative declination of the category. The Oscar chair by Patrick Norguet completes the dining proposal with an invitation to home comfort, ideal for restaurants or hotels as well. Oscar has both charisma and a disruptive personality, easily recognizable thanks to its generous shape and refined aesthetics. Its rubber seat and backrest are covered by leather and its solid wooden base represents the perfect balance of stretched lines and sinuous curves. Then are the brand-new lamps designed by Adele Martelli; small, collected, almost ethereal, soft and comfortable sources of light. Pearl is a luminous gem that is guarded, almost protected, by a limpid, crystalline sphere. Thanks to the atmospheres Pearl is able to generate, the surrounding space gets enriched by life and magic. Available in single elements or in composite configurations, Pearl contributes with extreme sobriety to furnishing the surrounding ambiences, with an interplay of solid and void shapes and spheres hovering in the space. A visit to the Carrara quarries was the source of inspiration that led Matteo Nunziati to design Fiam Italia’s first sofa ever. The new protagonist of the living room proposed by the Marche-based company wonderfully reproduces the suggestions that characterize the impressive marble walls with a succession of splendid three-dimensional designs and geometric joints. This magnetism guided the formal study of the sofa, especially in the detail of the joint between its seat, armrest and backrest. Carrara is thus a complement with a rigorous structure enriched and enhanced by precious and sophisticated details. Geometries, tactile sensations and visual perceptions follow each other in the Echo collection by Marcel Wanders studio, now expanded with new formats and dimensions. A collection that, thanks to the perfect balance of lines and volumes, expresses the exceptional combination of Fiam Italia’s technical and experimental skills and Marcel Wanders studio’s careful research aesthetical beauty. A creative process that takes its shape from the idea of creating a surface that could physically extending itself towards the observer, involving and surprising him. Glass is here reinterpreted and exalted through the repeated patterns of complex geometric shapes, distinctive features of the three-dimensional surface whose beauty can be appreciated from every angle.

In this way the transparency of glass is adorned with opacity, nuances and thicknesses, acquiring a new physicality that transforms it into an unexpected, physical, tactile element. Studio Klass extends the Hype project for the living area with the introduction of precious marbles to enhance the lively and material corporeity conveyed by the surface of the console top that, intentionally imperfect, lies on a base entirely made of CNC-numerically controlled and curved steel. The design of the structure is inspired to the graphic lines of the equilateral hyperbola, a geometry that is dynamic and rigorous at the same time, in strong contrast to the marble or fused glass top. Hence the collection takes an even more graphic and distinctive character, satisfying different needs and creating a common thread of materials within the ambience. In order to embellish the ambiences with aesthetics and elegance, Fiam Italia introduces new formats for the Venus mirror by Vittorio Livi, born from the fascinating encounter between two ancestral elements like fire and glass. A mirror, a symbol of vanity and irony, adorned by a precious textured frame in high-temperature fused glass that, thanks to its characteristic pattern, multiplies as a real jewel. The Pasha mirror by Dainelli Studio, originally designed for the Luxury Edition, closes the proposals for the Salone del Mobile 2022 with its new silvered glass finish, while maintaining the smoked and bronze glass options as well. Its sublime frame recalls and embodies the precious details of fine watchmaking, reinterpreting them in a refined and exclusive texture reflecting a bold and decisive personality that is definitely suitable for sophisticated contexts. All these new proposals represent, therefore, an expression of the desire by the brand to create complete and functional ambiences, where the firm technical and experimental skills are enhanced contributing to the designers’ artistic and aesthetic research. Sinuous lines, singular roughness and exceptional volumes get united thanks to a material – glass – that never ceases to communicate great elegance through its eternal spirit.
