Cookies policy

WHAT ARE COOKIES:

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the User send to the Browser being used on the User’s Device (PC, Notebook, Smartphone, Tablet, etc.). These text files are stored on the Device in order to be sent back to the same site upon the User’s subsequent visit.

FIAM ITALIA S.r.l. provides Users, by way of explanation, the types of existing cookies used, described below and classified on the basis of the Provisions and Indications issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), EU Regulation 2016/679 (the GDPR) and Italian Legislative Decree no. 101 of 10 August 2018.

TYPES OF COOKIES:

a) Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those cookies used for the sole purpose of allowing the site and the services available through it to be used normally, such as, for example, access to the site’s reserved areas.

These cookies are not used for any other purpose and are normally set directly by the website’s owner or operator.

They can be divided into browsing cookies and session cookies, which ensure that the website can be browsed and used normally (allowing, for example, purchases to be made and user authentication to be done to allow access to reserved areas). These cookies are deleted each time the browser is closed, in contrast to persistent cookies which remain until their pre-established expiry date. There are also functional cookies, which allow the User to browse on the basis of a set of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided.

A User’s prior consent to set these cookies is not required.

b) Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies are those used to collect information, in an aggregate and strictly anonymous form, for internal research purposes on the number of visitors and how they use the site. Analytics cookies are used solely to improve and optimise the services made available to the website’s users and, in general, to improve the site itself.

These cookies equate to technical cookies when used directly by the site’s operator to collect information on the number of users and how they use the site.

c) Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are used to create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages which are in line with the preferences exhibited by Users as they browse online.

Due to the particular invasiveness that these devices can have into the User’s privacy, European and Italian legislation requires that the User must be suitably informed of these cookies and must provide their explicit consent to their use.

d) Third-party cookies

Third-party cookies are cookies which are set by a website other than the one being visited by the User. Often, this type of cookie is used for profiling purposes, for example, in order to analyse the progress of a marketing campaign and/or to deliver personalised advertisements to the site being visited. These activities are indicated with the term “retargeting” and are based on the user’s browsing activities, such as the destination sought, the things viewed, etc. These services are provided by the third party in exchange for information regarding the User’s visit to the website in question. Therefore, even third-party suppliers of cookies have the obligation to comply with the relevant regulations in effect.

f) Web beacons

Web beacons are lines of code that generate tiny images installed within a web page or an email. The allow statistical information to be collected on the User’s activities in order to improve browsing and the services made available through the site. With regard to the newsletter, if a User wishes to prevent this statistical information from being collected, HTML needs to be deactivated in the User’s email system so that communications are read as “text only”.

Social Buttons

Among third-party cookies there are so-called social buttons. These are special “buttons”, placed on the website, which depict Social Media Network icons (such as Facebook and Instagram). Their presence allows Users who visit the site to interact directly with the desired social media network through a simple “click”.
