AquiliAlberg

Laura Aquili and Ergian Alberg are the designers of SIGMY coffee table in curved glass.

They were born respectively in 1973 and 1972. After enriching work experience in several international offices, such as Zaha Hadid Architects, OMA, Unstudio and Fuksas, they started in 2006 the AquiliAlberg Studio, dealing with architecture, design and graphic design.

They use and experimental and innovative approach which combines the highly technological experience acquired abroad with their background rooted in architecture, graphic design, art and design.

Moroso, Corian, Serralunga, Ritzenhoff and FIAM are some of the prestigious companies they have worked for and for which they took part to several trade fairs.

In 2009 the Milan Municipality has awarded them with the 2008 “Imprese Creative e innovative” award.

They write for several Italian magazines and newspapers such as Il Sole 24 Ore, Interni and l’ARCA. They have also started a blog in collaboration with NOVA100 of Il Sole 24 Ore entitled “Des-art-chitecture” dealing with “Emotional, digital and technological cross-pollination between design, art and architecture”.

Their projects have been reviewed nationally and internationally. They have also taught “Theoretical background on the influence of digital technology on society, culture & architecture” in Holland at the TUDelft in the Master Program “Hyperbody” of Kas Oosterhuis.

The most successful projects, among product, interior design and architecture


Their first product design project was the Vertigo side-table, which marks in 2007 the beginning of their partnership with Moroso.

Always in 2007 Corian by Dupont selected them to design the limited edition Fossil tray for the exhibition: “Corian: 40 years/40 designers” which took place in New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Oslo, Bordeaux and Brussels.

The first interior design project marks the beginning of the partnership with Christie’s auction house Christie’s , for which they design the new headquarter, the new offices in Milan and the new layout for the auctions of Palazzo Clerici in Milan and of Palazzo Lancellotti in Rome.

The prestigious projects do not end here: recently they have been entrusted with the project of the new marina in Jesolo.

In 2009 the Triennale Design Museum in Milan entrusted them with the Installation of the exhibition “ la città Fragile”, curated by the sociologist Aldo Bonomi, which took place successfully in the prestigious headquarter in Milan, in Viale Alemagna.

The fashion designer Neil Barrett introduced them to the fashion industry and gave them the chance to design the setting of the Milan fashion show AW2010.

They took part to several important events, such us to the first edition in Milan of the international event PechaKuchaNight, to the Innovation Circus, to Rizoma Biennale Giovani Architetti, to Beyond the Media 2009 and to CanActions, the exhibition in Kiev taking place every two years.
